Headline (220 characters max)
Recommended: > Founder & CEO, Tandem | Mental health infrastructure for primary care and OB/GYN | Building WTF is AI so non-technical people can AI-proof their careers
Alternates:
- Founder & CEO, Tandem | Non-technical CEO building AI-native healthcare | Founder, WTF is AI
- Mental health infrastructure in the clinics people already visit | Founder & CEO, Tandem + WTF is AI
About (recommended)
Third person, written as a magazine would write it. Opens on a premise, earns the credentials instead of listing them, and lands on the idea.
> Sheila Pande founded Tandem on an unglamorous premise: the best place to deliver mental health care is the appointment the patient already booked. > > So Tandem builds it into primary care and OB/GYN practices, for the provider and the patient both, in place of the referral that goes nowhere and the app nobody opens. The first two clinics are onboarded. > > She arrived at the problem from three directions at once: as a patient who could not find care that fit, as a global and digital health professional who watched well-funded solutions fail the communities they were built for, and as the daughter of a physician who kept running out of tools for the people in front of her. > > Tandem runs on AI from the inside out, an AI-native-ops corporation rather than a company that bolted the technology on afterward. Pande is its non-technical CEO, and she means that literally. She failed JavaScript in high school. In 2025 she taught herself to build with AI, then shipped enterprise and HIPAA-compliant software for a fraction of what she had been quoted. The experience rewrote her five-year hiring plan and raised a question she could not put down: if she could learn this, who else could? > > Her answer is WTF is AI (wtfisai.co), a training company for the people the technology industry never bothered to teach. Non-technical professionals. Women. Small business owners who can feel the ground shifting under their businesses and have nowhere to ask the obvious question. Proceeds support mental health care, which returns the whole enterprise to where it started. > > Her academic background is in public health, anthropology, behavioral health, and maternal and child mental health. Her method has not changed since: listen first, then build. > > Vibe coding on Threads and TikTok: @sheila_pande
Alternate openers
Swap the first line, keep the rest.
- Drier, WSJ: "Tandem, the company Sheila Pande founded and leads, treats the primary care visit as mental health infrastructure."
- Sharper, with an edge: "The referral is where mental health care usually dies. Sheila Pande built a company so that fewer get written."
- Idea first, Fast Company: "Sheila Pande works on a question the health system keeps answering badly: what happens after a patient says she is struggling?"
- Plainest: "Sheila Pande is the founder and CEO of Tandem, which puts mental health care inside primary care and OB/GYN visits."

What changed and why
The old bio was a resume in prose. It never named Tandem, never mentioned AI or WTF is AI, and opened two sentences in a row with "Sheila."
- Opens on a premise, not a mood. The first line states what the company believes and lets the reader disagree. That is the WSJ move, and it beats an image that asks the reader to feel something before they know anything.
- Originally opened on an image, which read as corny. Replaced 2026-09-20.
- Old bio opened on a title. A magazine profile earns your attention in the first line. A LinkedIn About has the same job, because the first two lines are all most people read before clicking "see more."
- Credentials are earned, not listed. The public health and global health background arrives as the reason she saw the problem, not as a credential dump.
- Three origins, one sentence. Patient, professional, daughter of a physician. The rhythm does the work.
- Names the traction. First two clinics onboarded.
- Gives the reader an idea to carry. The AI-native-ops company run by a non-technical CEO, and the question it raised: if she could learn this, who else could?
- Closes the loop. WTF is AI proceeds fund mental health care, so two companies read as one mission.
- Keeps the Threads and TikTok line as a footer, where it belongs.
Open questions
- Confirm the clinic count is current before this goes live
- Confirm she wants investors named as an audience on a public profile while Tandem is raising
- Decide whether "failed JavaScript in high school" belongs on the LinkedIn profile that clinics and investors read, or stays a WTF is AI story
